Dear Readers

I haven't had time to read this weekend.  I had a very busy weekend. My sister and I are in the middle of building a house and we had to do the colour thing - the outside of the house. The part that is not cheap to change!  I hated it. Luckily for me, my sister is very visionary. She could see what joinery colours went with what house colours. I have no vision at all. Unless a room or colours are complete, and there in front of me, I can't picture it.

bronwenevans towagerthemarquisofwolverstone 800pxPlus, I'm working hard to finish Marcus's story, TO WAGER THE MARQUIS OF WOLVERSTONE,  book 2 in my Wicked Wagers Trilogy.  He's such a conflicted man and such a heart broken rake- the most notorious kind.Ten years ago, Sabine Fournier broke his heart, and now she's back in his life, asking for a favor. The cheek of the damn irresistible beauty!

Here's a small sample of their fiery reunion...

Agreeing to help her would be a mistake. Every honed instinct screamed for him to deny her and stand and leave. But part of him wanted what had been ripped from him years ago. What she’d dangled before him and then callously cut away.

This time he would make her fall in love with him, and then he’d be the one to walk away.

“You’re obviously under the misapprehension that I care about money,” he finally offered.

“Then what is it that you do care about?” she replied in a manner that was faintly taunting.

“Pleasure,” Marcus said, observing her horrified expression. “Come, don’t act so surprised.  If you have taken the time to learn about my card skills, then you must have learned of my other favorite pursuits.”

Involuntarily she glanced at her hands and he saw her neck move with a large swallow. “I could hardly avoid learning that you are one of the most decadent libertines in all England.” She raised her eyes to greet his. “Perhaps I had a lucky escape.”

Calling on all his willpower, Marcus reined in his fury at her words. “I used to be exceedingly discriminating about the woman I pursued. However after you… after you taught me how ridiculous that sentiment was, I didn't much care who I bedded. I simply buried my pain with as many female pleasures as I could.”

Her lack of response at his proclamation needled.

“Fucking. I became rather good at it. I’m sure given your lack of particularity about who shares your bed; you've become quite the expert too.”

Some emotion flickered in her eyes, something vulnerable and too fleeting for him to identify. Then she lowered her eyelids as if to shield the secrets she hid.

Needless to say, I have completely fallen in love with Marcus and Sabine. I hope to bring you their story in early April. If you haven't read book one in the Wicked Wagers Trilogy - To Dare the Duke of Dangerfield, click here to buy...

I really do love a story where the Hero and Heroine are at odds with each other. I like this excerpt, as they obviously have unresolved issues between them. It will be interesting to follow their journey and see how they overcome these before finding their happy ever after. :D
